Which Method Should You Use?

For English words:

Start with English Ordinal or Simple Gematria. They use the same A=1 to Z=26 mapping and are the most universally understood.

For Hebrew words:

Use Hebrew Gematria. Enter Hebrew letters directly for traditional calculations.

For numerological analysis:

Try Full Reduction to reduce values to single digits (1-9).

For comparative research:

Use the Compare tool to run all methods simultaneously and find matching values across words.

Method Details

English Ordinal

Input: English

The most widely used English gematria system. Assigns sequential values A=1 through Z=26 to the English alphabet.

LOVE = L(12) + O(15) + V(22) + E(5) = 54

Simple Gematria

Input: English

Simple Gematria uses the same A=1 to Z=26 mapping as English Ordinal. It's the ideal starting point for beginners.

PEACE = P(16) + E(5) + A(1) + C(3) + E(5) = 30

Full Reduction

Input: English

Full Reduction assigns values 1-9 to the alphabet by cycling: A-I = 1-9, J-R = 1-9, S-Z = 1-8. Used in numerological analysis.

J=1, K=2 ... R=9, S=1 ... Z=8

Reverse Ordinal

Input: English

Assigns values in reverse alphabetical order: Z=1, Y=2, X=3 through A=26. A mirror of English Ordinal.

LOVE = L(15) + O(12) + V(5) + E(22) = 54

Jewish Gematria

Input: English

Uses a special English-letter mapping inspired by Hebrew numerology. A-J = 1-10, K-R = 20-90, S-Z = 100-800.

A=1, J=10, K=20, S=100, T=200, Z=800

Hebrew Gematria

Input: Hebrew

The traditional Hebrew system using the 22 Hebrew letters. Values range from Alef (1) to Tav (400).

שלום = ש(300) + ל(30) + ו(6) + מ(40) = 376

Sumerian Gematria

Input: English

Multiplies English Ordinal values by 6. A=6, B=12, C=18 through Z=156. An alternative method often discussed alongside English Ordinal.

LOVE = L(72) + O(90) + V(132) + E(30) = 324
